Personal safety is becoming increasingly important as our world continues to be filled with violence. Daily experiences expose us to a variety of vulnerable situations. Many children and adults feel vulnerable because they are not educated on how to deal properly with these situations. FASTDefense offers participant's the opportunity to effectively handle potentially threatening situations. By learning personal safety techniques and having the experience of actually using these techniques, students are able to recognize and utilize their strengths. Many programs today teach the skills, but do not allow for their actual implementation. This is where FAST Defense differs in that participants learn to work within the fear state that naturally occurs in a stressful situation and take appropriate action.
This is much more than a "self-defense" course. It offers a very strong empowering aspect that is not typically found in other programs. Within the new skills of FASTDefense comes an expanded sense of capabilities. Powerful new choices are created. Not every student who learns these skills will need them, or even choose to use them. The importance is in having the choice. We have choices in our relationships, when and how we choose to love, how to effectively confront a dangerous situation, and yes, when necessary, defend ourselves when confronted by a Bully, Kidnapper, Angry Employee, Rapist or Home Intruder.

FASTDefense is not about punching, kicking or fighting! Most course graduates never have to use physical defense because of their new abilities to avoid or de-escalate threatening situations. Most interpersonal conflicts can be effectively stopped with good assertive body communication and verbal skills alone!
